Yoga teachers at Everyday Athlete are a community of fun-loving and highly trained yogis that aim to serve and inspire students to see the greatness of their potential in every class. A wide range of classes is available to accommodate students of all levels; from beginning students and expectant mothers, to students with therapeutic limitations and advanced practitioners. Our commitment at Everyday Athlete is to encourage all students to discover the intrinsic goodness and creativity within themselves, and provide the opportunity for a transformational experience to unfold.

Dude Yoga

Why not skip the potentially humbling experience of a room full of yoga outfitted ladies who can outshine you in the flexibility dept.? Here’s an invitation to access your strength & agility in the company of other dudes (except 1 lady, me, the teacher). Beginners Welcome! Start where you are. NOW. DO IT.

Basic Anusara

Basic Anusara yoga is ideal for the beginning student. The class pace ranges from slow to moderate, and instructors break down the Universal Principles of Alignment in all postures, and explain or demonstrate modifications. Some inversions are taught. Students are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about their body types and their practice potential.

Pre-Natal Yoga

Motherhood is a profoundly special time in a woman’s life and the practice of prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to prepare, explore and celebrate your pregnancy as you embark on this miraculous journey. Everyday Athlete’s Prenatal yoga class is a place to nurture yourself, connect with your growing baby, meet other expecting moms, and prepare for birth-day and beyond. Our teachers provide a balance of strength-building and restorative yoga postures for pregnancy, pelvic floor exercises, breath-work, relaxation, meditation, education as well as time to share feelings and experiences as your pregnancy progresses. Prenatal yoga can provide many benefits for both you and your growing baby, such as:

  • Reduction of common discomforts (back ache, hip pain, leg cramps, insomnia and muscle soreness)
  • Improved circulation and digestion
  • Preparation for childbirth
  • Reduced stress and a relaxed mind and body.

Programs can be customized to include private training, massage and bodywork, as well as yoga, small group training and acupuncture.

Massage

infant craniosacral therapy

Developed by Dr. John Upledger, CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the nervous system, thus aiding the body’s own natural healing response to the negative effects of stress and trauma.  The intention of CST is to facilitate the release of contracted muscles and chronically held tension patterns within the tissues. While maintaining the same focus as adult CST of optimizing the function of the nervous system, assessment and treatment with infants addresses feeding and early developmental issues.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the release of chronic tension patterns from the body’s deeper tissue layers.Through slow, deep strokes, finger pressure in contracted muscles, and manipulation of muscle fiber adhesions and tight connective tissue, the therapist aims to release long held patterns of tension.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy—Sore areas usually referred to as “knots” are most likely trigger points. Active trigger points are tender and often refer pain to other parts of the body when pressure is applied. The purpose of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits.

muscle release

Muscle Release is The Everyday Athlete’s signature approach to bodywork, targeting the thicker muscle groups of the body: glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps and hip flexors. The technique is a combination of stretching and shiatsu techniques to increase mobility in the lower part of the body.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones in combination with traditional Swedish massage strokes. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps release tight muscles while the placement of stones along the spine and other major joints aids the flow of energy in the body. Warming the body to the core, it is the perfect cold weather treat!
